Hi! I’m Katherine –
What areas of your life does diabetes affect in terms of having to take a different approach than someone without diabetes? Every part, so we must continually learn to live our lives to the fullest and live with diabetes in mind. I hope this blog can provide:
- Relatable information as we experience the daily challenges of living with diabetes
- Knowledge to empower us to lead healthy lives and take control of our diabetes
- A reminder that our lives have purpose and we are still fearfully and wonderfully made even with a chronic condition.
You know that excited feeling when you see someone else with an insulin pump or checking their blood sugar or the sense of camaraderie felt when you can talk to another person with diabetes that has experienced a low and they just “get it.” Representation and community are so important and I hope you can find that in these blog posts. The United States healthcare system is not set up to adequately support those with chronic health conditions, especially diabetes where the day to day management and decision making is done by you, so want to provide easy to understand health knowledge to empower the day to day decisions we have to make in living with diabetes.
Diabetes Bio: I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 4 years old. I have been on insulin pump since I was 10 years old. I’ve used a Medtronic pump, the Omnipod classic or Eros, and Omnipod 5 in the past, but currently using the Tandem Mobi along with the Dexcom G7 CGM (continuous glucose monitor) for my daily diabetes management. I’ve also been through pregnancy and postpartum with diabetes. Read those blog posts to find out more!
